Physical Training Specialist provides free advice for extended active living!

"Mens Sana in Corpore Sano"   - Healthy in Body Healthy in Mind!

This site is owned by a former specialist commissioned officer in the Physical Training Branch of the British Royal Navy . He is able to offer as a public service, this free advice site, to enable you to keep fit and mobile well into old age. There is something here for all levels of ability and aspirations. Use the links in the headers and footers to navigate the site or click here to go to the: Site Map

It is not possible to extend life beyond the allotted span but it is possible to improve the quality of life, with a combination of fitness and mobility. You will easily learn how to put together a programme to suit your own ability level. See specialist Seniors Page for more specific advice.

The owners web site design skills are somewhat basic. This site is therefore a mixture of the owners personal knowledge, and a pastiche of other interesting and appropriate articles and graphics collected from various other web sites. Attributions have been appended where applicable and known, although not all such material has received the original owners permission to use. Any conflict as a result of this policy should be drawn to the owners attention for immediate rectification. My grateful and envious thanks to those who have contributed, albeit unwittingly:

Health Check

Make sure that there is no physical reason why you should not commence a programme of fitness and mobility rehabilitation, by seeking medical advice
before you start. Health professionals recommend that older individuals adopt
and maintain a regular physical activity programme in order to prevent injury
and disease, and to maintain physical independence. It's never to late to start an exercise programme! Whether you're 25 or 65,cardiovascular exercise and resistance training can make the difference in the quality of your life as you age.

Why here?

Research has shown that one of the biggest reasons older adults do not exercise is intimidation: you don’t know where or how to start, and the atmosphere in gymnasiums or fitness centres is overwhelming. If you've been thinking about starting an exercise regime, delay no longer. 'Fitnwell' has the workout for you!

When you have built up your confidence, then you can go to the fitness centre and take your 'workout' with you. Or, having got yourself perhaps a little more confident here, you will be able to discuss your personal requirements with a little more knowledge.

Delay the Aging Process

Weight gain, loss of strength and bone mineral density, together with decreased heart and lung efficiency is part of the aging process. These factors can limit your physical abilities affecting the quality of your life. Much of the deterioration associated with aging can be attributed to inactivity. In fact, inactivity is a high risk factor for heart disease Prevention, then, becomes of particular importance; use physical activity to limit your risk of disease and slow your body’s deterioration. The daily benefits of regular exercise are numerous. Getting out of bed in the morning and performing daily chores becomes easier. Physical activity relieves stiff, aching joints and muscles, increases energy, and enhances overall well-being. Not only will you be able to move without pain, but you'll feel good too!

Health Check Reminder

Make sure that there is no physical reason why you should not commence a programme of fitness and mobility rehabilitation, by seeking medical advice before you start.

Do you want to keep mentally alert and physically mobile? Start today - you know it makes sense!

Caveat: Before taking any form of exercise consult your doctor.
